Buckinghamshire photographs searching tips
To list photographs for a single parish, select the parish from the list on the
simple search page and click the Search button next
to the list of parishes.
For a more precise selection of photographs, enter words or phrases in one or
more of the fields on the advanced search page and click the Search
button.
For example, if you wanted to locate photographs about brick-making, enter brick
as the Activity and click on Search. If you are
interested in brick-making in the Buckland Common area, you can also enter Buckland
for the place. If you cannot find what you are looking for first time around,
try searching with fewer words, or search on fewer items. We do not recommend
doing a blanket search with no conditions, as this will take some time and give
you a very long list.
Whichever method you choose, you will be presented with a list of summaries for
the located photographs. Click on a summary to view the photograph and its
associated details.
Where the period for a photograph includes a pair of dates, e.g. 1900=1909, this
indicates a range of dates for the photograph. Ranges usually run from 00 to
09. Because of this, searches for years ending in 00 or 09 will locate more
photographs than other specific years.
Please note that the two location methods are exclusive. Selecting a parish from
the left hand list has no effect on the selective search on the right, and vice
versa.
